Shooting at beach resort in Honduras leaves two dead, one injured

A violent incident at a beach resort in El Pino, El Porvenir municipality, Atlántida, has resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to another.

The shooting occurred on Saturday within the recreational area, where the victims were reportedly enjoying family time. Armed assailants reportedly opened fire on three members of the group. The deceased have been identified as Isidro López Ruíz, also known by the alias 'Chirito,' and an unidentified person. The injured individual was rushed to a medical facility in La Ceiba for urgent treatment.

One of the victims was found deceased in a hammock, while the other was located on a sports court within the resort. Law enforcement officers quickly secured the crime scene and have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack. This incident adds to the ongoing violence in Honduras, with the Violence Observatory of the National Autonomous University of Honduras (OV-UNAH) reporting an average of six violent deaths per day.
