Shopkeeper Murdered in Mar del Plata Robbery Amid Security Concerns

A 48-year-old shopkeeper was fatally shot during a robbery at his hardware store in Mar del Plata, Argentina, amidst growing public outcry over rising crime and inadequate security. The victim, identified as Ricardo Raúl Ruiz, was shot in the chest during the armed assault at his store, Bener.

Despite being rushed to the Hospital Interzonal General de Agudos, Ruiz succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Following the attack, police quickly responded, establishing a perimeter and apprehending two suspects, aged 23 and 25, in the western periphery of the city. One suspect is believed to be the shooter, while the other was apprehended after attempting to flee.

Authorities recovered a .32 caliber revolver from the suspects. The investigation is ongoing, with forensic experts examining the crime scene.
