Shopping frenzy leaves stores in Oradea and Turda in disarray amid big discounts

A massive 50% discount sale at Hervis Sport stores in Oradea and Turda has resulted in scenes of chaos, with shoppers leaving behind a trail of disorder.

Images circulating on social media depict the aftermath of the sale, showing boxes and shoes strewn across floors, clothes in disarray, and accessories abandoned. One video, filmed after closing hours at the Lotus Center store in Oradea, reveals a scene resembling a storm's aftermath, with shoe boxes emptied and clothing racks ransacked. The sale attracted large queues, indicating its success in drawing customers, but the resulting mess has sparked significant online criticism.

We still lack a lot of education and common sense," commented one internet user, reflecting a common sentiment expressed online. Similar scenes of disarray were reported at the Hervis store in Turda on Sunday, where clothes, hangers, boxes, and shoes were found scattered on the floor, and long queues formed at the checkouts.

"I was in the Hervis store today. Look at what's there. Unfortunately, we will never civilize," a local resident told TurdaNews, expressing dismay at the behavior. The shoe section, in particular, showed signs of extreme disarray, with numerous boxes pulled from shelves and left on tables or the floor. Display surfaces and aisles were covered with sports shoes, opened packaging, and displaced products.

These events coincide with a significant ownership change for the Hervis Romania chain. The British group Frasers has completed the acquisition of the 49 stores across the country, which are slated for a gradual transformation into Sports Direct outlets. Both the stores and their employees are being transferred to the new owner.
