Shots fired at Berlin businesses; manhunt continues for separate shooting suspect

Berlin experienced another night of gun violence as unidentified individuals opened fire on a hair salon and an adjacent nightclub in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district. The shooting occurred around 6:00 AM on Saturday, with police confirming at least one bullet hole found at the salon and another at the nightclub.

Authorities have stated that it is currently unclear which establishment was the intended target. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. Police are actively investigating the motive behind the shooting and searching for the perpetrators. This event adds to a growing concern over gun-related crime in the capital.

In a separate incident, police are still searching for a suspect who shot a 22-year-old man in the Graefekiez neighborhood of Berlin-Kreuzberg on Friday evening. The victim underwent emergency surgery and is not in life-threatening condition. A homicide unit has taken over the investigation into this shooting, coordinating with a special unit established to combat the rise in gun violence.

Investigators are examining potential links between the two shootings, as well as previous incidents in the Graefekiez area. The special unit, 'Ferrum,' was formed last autumn in response to a significant increase in firearms-related crime across Berlin.
