Show jumping: Kühner and Rhomberg out of medal race at World Championships

Austria's top show jumpers, Max Kühner and Katharina Rhomberg, have seen their medal hopes at the World Championships in Aachen dashed after a disappointing performance on the first day. The pair struggled during the initial speed jumping competition, with both riders incurring two jumping faults.

Kühner, riding EIC Cooley Jump the Q, finished in 75th place. Rhomberg, on Colestus Cambridge, placed 65th. These results effectively remove them from contention for medals in the prestigious event.

In contrast, fellow Austrian rider Felix Koller achieved a clear round aboard Cossinelle. This flawless performance positioned the World Championship debutant in 24th place, keeping him in the running for higher rankings.

The competition continues, but for Kühner and Rhomberg, the focus shifts from medal aspirations to achieving the best possible placings in the remaining rounds.
