Simbu PHA bids farewell to Board after 3 years

The Simbu Provincial Health Authority (PHA) recently held a farewell ceremony for its Board of Governance, marking the end of their three-year term on August 14, 2026. The outgoing Board has been lauded for its instrumental role in elevating the province's health services, culminating in Simbu PHA securing second place in the national Health Performance Rankings for 2025.

During the event in Kundiawa, Simbu PHA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ken Kassi commended the Board for its unwavering commitment, strategic vision, and effective partnership with management. "Your commitment, vision and partnership with management have positioned Simbu PHA as one of the top-performing health authorities in the country," Dr. Kassi stated. He highlighted that the Board's guidance was crucial in achieving major improvements in health service delivery across the province.

The strong collaborative relationship between the Board and the management team was identified as a key factor in Simbu PHA's success in the 2025 Sector Performance Annual Review. Outgoing Board Chairman David Herman Nime emphasized the importance of teamwork and a positive outlook in achieving these results. He noted that despite the Board members not having medical backgrounds, their dedication resulted in tangible benefits for the people of Simbu.

Staff, community representatives, and stakeholders presented tokens of appreciation to the departing Board members. Dr. Kassi will assume operational authority until a new Board is appointed, ensuring continuity in health services during the transition period. Health services in the province are expected to continue without disruption.
