Simón Bolívar Foundation grants $3 million in initial aid after Venezuela earthquakes

The Simón Bolívar Foundation announced $3 million in initial funding to support three assistance projects following earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026. CITGO Petroleum Corporation is backing these resources, with an additional $7 million approved, raising the total aid financing for 2026 to $10 million.

The foundation will continue to evaluate proposals, channeling funds through experienced local partners. The first three initiatives will be managed by World Central Kitchen, Project HOPE, and ChildFund International, collaborating with local volunteers and organizations. These programs will provide food in heavily impacted areas and offer health services, nutrition, water and sanitation (WASH), psychosocial support, and temporary shelter.

Furthermore, the aid includes the repair of 14 primary care centers. This involves infrastructure work, medical equipment provision, and training for healthcare personnel. The initiative is projected to reach more than 64,900 vulnerable people across Caracas, La Guaira state, and Miranda state over the next 12 months.

"The support from the Simón Bolívar Foundation will help us continue providing freshly prepared meals to affected families while maintaining the local response network," said Tunde Wackman, Director of Development at World Central Kitchen. Rabih Torbay, CEO of Project HOPE, highlighted that the contribution will help stabilize the local health system, improving access to medical services and clean water.

The Simón Bolívar Foundation, a private non-profit organization of CITGO Petroleum Corporation, focuses on supporting vulnerable populations, particularly mothers and children, with an emphasis on health initiatives.
