Simone Biles reveals recent health scare

Seven-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles revealed to her 11.8 million Instagram followers that she recently faced a near-fatal health scare. The acclaimed gymnast described the incident as "one of, if not the scariest experience of my life," noting that her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, was away for practices at the time.

I'm not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today's age. But almost dying wasn't on my bingo card earlier this week.

Biles, 29, who is considered one of the greatest gymnasts of all time with 23 World Championship titles, has not yet confirmed her participation in the upcoming Los Angeles Olympics. She is currently taking a break from competition following breast augmentation surgery.

Her post included photos of medical bracelets on her wrists and flowers, accompanied by a message thanking her close circle for their support. While Biles stated she would explain the situation "sooner or later," she offered no further details about the health scare itself.

Biles has a history of overcoming challenges, including her struggles with "the twisties" during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where she still helped the USA secure a silver medal in the team event and won bronze on the beam. She later made a strong comeback at the Paris Games, winning three gold medals and a silver, becoming the oldest U.S. gymnast to win an Olympic gold medal and an all-around title at age 27.
