Singaporean Man Arrested in Bali for Girlfriend's Murder

A Singaporean man has been arrested in Bali for allegedly strangling his girlfriend to death. The 26-year-old suspect, identified by the initials MZ, was apprehended by authorities on Wednesday night.

The suspect was secured on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai.

The victim, also 26, was discovered deceased in her rented room in Denpasar on Wednesday evening. Her sister, RA, went to check on her after her phone was inactive and noticed a strong, foul odor emanating from the room. Upon entering, she found her sister's body, partially covered by a doll.

The suspect was secured within approximately three hours. The victim was a woman from Tegal, Central Java.

Authorities reported that the suspect, who had been in Bali for a year and overstayed his visa, confessed to the crime. The preliminary motive appears to be a dispute stemming from their romantic relationship. The victim was reportedly strangled for approximately 15 minutes. The suspect attempted to flee towards Sanur but was apprehended within three hours.

The temporary motive from the interrogation results is heartbreak due to the romantic relationship.

According to the victim's sister, she and the victim worked at a billiard hall and had last met about a week prior. She also mentioned that the victim had argued with her boyfriend twice before due to his infidelity. Another witness, a friend of the suspect, provided details about their relationship.

The person concerned has been in a relationship for a year. He committed assault by strangling the victim for approximately 15 minutes and intended to flee towards Sanur.
