Singer Lee Eun-mi to promote Gyeongbuk's East Sea underwater scenery

Veteran singer and experienced scuba diver Lee Eun-mi, 60, is lending her voice and passion to promote the stunning underwater landscapes of South Korea's Gyeongbuk East Coast. The Gyeongbuk Tourism Organization recently appointed her as an honorary ambassador for the region's marine attractions.

Lee, who has been diving for over a decade and visits Ulleungdo Island for about ten to fifteen days annually, highlighted a particularly breathtaking sight: a dense pine forest thriving at a depth of 45 meters between Ulleungdo and Gwanmeongdo islands. She described the underwater forest as mystical and grand, akin to ancient zelkova trees guarding an old village, and noted the rarity of such clear ecosystems and massive rock formations in other seas.

Her ambassadorship will involve promotional activities aimed at showcasing the East Sea's underwater beauty and emphasizing the importance of marine ecosystem conservation. Lee plans to use her platform to inform both domestic and international audiences about the unique underwater vistas, which include other notable sites like Homibando Peninsula in Pohang and the underwater area near King Munmu's Tomb in Gyeongju.
