Singer Željko Bebek Recalls Dubrovnik Wedding Amidst Heavy Rain

Croatian singer Željko Bebek reminisced about his wedding to Ružica in Dubrovnik on April 6, 2002, an event that remains a cherished memory despite being accompanied by heavy rain. Bebek shared that the weather was known to be challenging that day, but it did not dampen their spirits. The couple, who have been married for over two decades and are considered one of the most harmonious domestic couples, initially planned a long boat trip but had to abandon it due to strong winds.

It didn't fall suddenly, never. The rain was known, April 6, 2002, but it was wonderful for us. We came with a small group, to a beautiful place, we sailed for a very long time and had to give up the longer sailing because of the strong southerly wind, but that did not diminish the satisfaction and beauty of the event.

Despite the weather, the celebration continued with a small group of friends. They were greeted under umbrellas by their officiants, shared champagne, and later took a walk through Dubrovnik. The unexpected heavy rain soaked them, leading them to a cafe where they continued their joyful celebration. Bebek emphasized that the experience, even getting drenched, became one of their most beautiful memories.

Of course, people welcomed us under umbrellas, those who married us came, we drank champagne. And when the group dispersed, we two went for a walk through Dubrovnik, but then suddenly a big rain appeared and we got completely soaked, and so soaked we went to a well-known cafe where we continued, the two of us, celebrating what we experienced that day.

Bebek also touched upon his relationship with Ružica, who is 34 years younger than him. He recalled meeting her after a concert and falling in love at first sight. He admitted to concerns about the age difference but stated that Ružica was the first person for whom music was not his top priority. Their dream was to marry in Dubrovnik, a wish they fulfilled, aiming to make the day as special as possible.

Ružica is the first person for whom I could say that music is not the most important thing to me compared to her.

This is Bebek's third marriage. He has daughters Silvija and Bianca from previous marriages, and with Ružica, he has Katarina and Zvonimir, who is following in his musical footsteps. Bebek frequently highlights the importance of family, particularly enjoying his role as a grandfather to Tina, Leon, and Ema, children of his daughter Silvija. He finds joy and rejuvenation in their love and devotion.

In this way, we fulfilled a wish for ourselves, a dream that we had long desired. While we were dating, we told ourselves that we would spend that day in the best possible way, and that's why we chose Dubrovnik.
