Sinković Brothers Return to Discipline Where They Made Sports History

Croatian rowing legends Martin and Valent Sinković are embarking on a new international season by returning to their roots in the double scull discipline. This event, where each rower uses two oars, is where the brothers achieved their first Olympic gold medal and carved out a significant chapter in Croatian sports history.

This year we returned to our discipline, the double scull. For those who don't know, it's a discipline where each rower has two oars. This is what we started with and what we won our first Olympic gold medal in.

Their season debut is set for the first World Cup regatta in Seville, Spain, from May 29th to 31st. This competition will feature a strong international field, with 37 nations, 499 athletes, and 215 crews participating, promising a high-caliber start to the rowing season.

The Sinković brothers have completed a rigorous preparation period, with the last month of training described as highly productive. Valent Sinković noted a minor setback earlier in the spring due to his rib stress fracture but confirmed that both he and Martin have been training exceptionally well in the past month. They have focused on technical aspects and physical conditioning at Peruća lake, benefiting from high-quality sparring sessions with top international crews, including the fourth-ranked Spanish double from last year and the second-ranked Serbian double.

I can also say that I am very satisfied with how everything is going. We enjoyed the last fifteen days, the boat has really started moving as we hoped. Racing is always different from training, but we are looking forward to the season again. The competition is in two weeks again. I am happy and can't wait for the first races.

Martin Sinković echoed his brother's sentiments, expressing satisfaction with their progress and eagerly anticipating the return to international racing. He highlighted that the boat's performance has improved significantly in recent weeks. Coach Nikola Bralić also affirmed the quality of their preparations, stating that the brothers are heading to Seville with the clear objective of starting the season strong and assessing their current form against elite competition. The brothers are scheduled to begin their qualification race on Friday at 11:00 AM.

Regarding the preparations, the results were very good, so we hope that the 1st World Cup itself will be very good in terms of results. In the previous part, we had good sparring partners, we did an excellent job, we were good and we are going to Seville full of optimism.
