Six dead, 16 injured after under-construction temple roof collapses in Maharashtra's Parbhani

Six devotees were killed and 16 others injured when a portion of an under-construction temple roof collapsed in Maharashtra's Parbhani district on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred at Yashwadi village, about 190 kilometers from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Police reported that a section of the roof of the temple's assembly hall gave way around 3:30 p.m. while devotees were present. Rescue teams pulled approximately 25 people from the debris, with several injured individuals taken to nearby hospitals.

Five of the six deceased have been identified. Authorities noted that the temple had a larger-than-usual turnout because Saturday is considered auspicious for Lord Hanuman worshippers. Rescue efforts were immediately launched by police and local administration.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his condolences and stated that the injured were receiving medical care. His office announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh for each family that lost a member in the collapse.
