Six Dead, 27 Injured in Collision on Terni-Rieti Highway

A devastating head-on collision on the Terni-Rieti state road has claimed six lives and left 27 people injured. The tragic accident occurred near Lake Ventina, on the border between the Lazio and Umbria regions of Italy.

According to initial police reports, the collision involved a camper van and a bus. The camper, traveling towards Terni, is believed to have swerved into the opposite lane, directly impacting the bus that was heading towards Rieti. The force of the impact was immense, completely destroying the camper. Three other cars were also involved in the incident, with one reportedly flipping over.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene. Four individuals with critical injuries were airlifted by helicopter to the Gemelli hospital in Rome and the Umbria 118 helicopter to Terni hospital. An additional 23 injured individuals, categorized as yellow and green code, were taken to hospitals in Rieti, Terni, and Foligno. The deceased include the drivers of both vehicles and two passengers from the bus, along with the two occupants of the camper.
