Six Israelis arrested in major Egypt, Jordan border smuggling ring

Israeli police announced the arrest of six Israeli citizens involved in a sophisticated smuggling network that operated across the Egyptian and Jordanian borders. The network was active from 2024 to 2026, engaging in dozens of weapons and drug smuggling operations.

The investigation, a joint effort by the Shin Bet and the Central Unit of the Negev, uncovered the use of drones and other vehicles to transport contraband into Israel. Security forces managed to thwart some of these smuggling attempts at the border.

During the operation, authorities seized a significant arsenal, including numerous pistols, M16 assault rifles, and three machine guns. Thousands of rounds of ammunition and large quantities of various drugs were also confiscated. The six suspects, all residents of the Negev region, have been identified as key players in the buying and trafficking of these weapons within the network.

Indictments have been filed against the suspects following the conclusion of the investigation, marking a significant blow to organized crime operating along Israel's borders.
