Six members of the same family killed in Honduras massacre

A horrific massacre in Olanchito, Yoro, Honduras, has claimed the lives of six individuals belonging to the same family. The attack occurred on Tuesday night in the Murillo Soto neighborhood.

Police Commissioner Lorenzo Lara confirmed the identities of the victims: Santos Giovanni Díaz, Daylin Bonilla, Denis Manuel Meléndez Becerra, Francisco Enrique Díaz, Carlos Manuel Díaz Duarte, and Brian Wilfredo Salgado Ruiz. Lara stated that the victims were siblings, a daughter-in-law, and children, all part of a single family unit.

Initially, four victims were rushed to a medical center with severe injuries, but they tragically succumbed to their wounds, raising the official death toll to six. The investigation has revealed that two of the deceased had prior arrests for alleged involvement in micro-drug trafficking. Furthermore, the house where the attack took place had been searched multiple times in previous years due to complaints related to drug sales and motorcycle theft.

The primary line of investigation points towards disputes connected to micro-drug trafficking and motorcycle theft, activities to which at least three of the individuals present in the house were allegedly linked. Investigators recovered 9-millimeter shell casings from the crime scene, which will be crucial evidence in identifying the perpetrators.

Family members expressed deep sorrow over the loss, particularly mourning the death of Daylin Bonilla, a young mother who leaves behind three orphaned children. Authorities are continuing their investigations to fully understand the circumstances of the attack and apprehend those responsible for this latest massacre to plague Honduras.
