Six people injured in New Jersey acid attack involving suspects on a moped

A disturbing acid attack in Jersey City, New Jersey, has left six people injured, including three teenagers. The incident occurred Monday evening when two suspects riding a moped reportedly drove past a group and doused them with an acidic substance.

Initially, five people were reported injured, but police updated the number to six on Tuesday afternoon. A 21-year-old woman was transported to a local burn unit for treatment of second-degree burns to her face and scalp. The other five victims are reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities believe the attack was targeted and may have followed an earlier altercation. Preliminary information suggests the substance was thrown at five women who were gathered outside a residential address on Wilkinson Avenue. Police suspect the substance used was sulfuric acid.

In response to the attack, Jersey City Mayor James Solomon expressed his thoughts for the victims and vowed that violence of this nature has no place in the city. He has directed the Jersey City Police Department to allocate its full resources to the investigation and ensure officers work around the clock to apprehend those responsible.
