Siya met Chetan through her brother: A cricket connection in Pune fort murder

A cricket connection forged between two men has emerged as a key element in the investigation into the death of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, with police focusing on how accused Chetan Chaudhary entered the victim's social circle.

According to investigators, Chetan was introduced to Siya Goyal, Agarwal's fiancée, through her brother, Sahil. The two men reportedly developed a friendship over their shared passion for cricket. Sahil Goyal, who has been questioned extensively, told police that he was aware of Siya's relationship with Chetan for several months. He stated that he had urged his sister to end the affair, given her engagement to Ketan.

Ketan Agarwal, director of a Pune-based real estate firm, died on June 18 after a fall from Lohagad Fort. Police are treating the case as a suspected murder, and both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have been arrested and are in custody. Investigators are working to determine if other family members were aware of the relationship or noticed any warning signs prior to the alleged conspiracy.

The investigation further revealed that Siya and Chetan allegedly maintained close contact even as wedding preparations for Siya and Ketan progressed. Police claim the couple exchanged over 2,000 phone calls, totaling nearly 238 hours, between January and June. Reports also suggest Siya was reluctant to marry Ketan after learning about his hair loss, although his family maintains they had informed her about his use of a hair patch.

Sahil told us he had learnt about Siya and Chetan’s relationship several months ago. Concerned about its implications, he advised his sister to end the relationship since she was already engaged to Ketan.
