SK Hynix employees' average salary exceeds 144 million won in first half

Employees at South Korean semiconductor giant SK Hynix earned an average of 144 million won (approximately $104,000 USD) in the first half of 2024, a 23% increase from the same period last year. The company's semi-annual report revealed that the average salary rose from 117 million won to 144 million won. The total number of employees also grew by about 2,500 to 36,150. SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung received a total of 26.095 billion won in the first half of the year. This compensation package included 12.5 billion won in base salary, 20.455 billion won in bonuses, and 4.379 billion won from the exercise of stock options. A company representative explained that the substantial increase in bonuses was due to the company's stock price performance, reflecting long-term incentive plans established in the past. Chief Technology Officer Cha Sun-yong also received significant compensation, totaling 10.94 billion won. His package included 550 million won in salary, 6 billion won in bonuses, and 4.379 billion won from stock options. The report highlights the company's strong financial performance and its commitment to rewarding its employees and executives.
