Slain NURTW leader laid to rest in Lagos

Toba Ajiboye, the organizing secretary of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), was laid to rest in Ketu, Lagos, on Tuesday. Mourners, including family, colleagues, friends, and supporters, gathered to pay their respects amid visible grief.

Ajiboye, also known as Toba Ijaiya, died after sustaining gunshot injuries when unidentified gunmen attacked his vehicle in the Fadeyi area of Lagos on Sunday evening. The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the attack and initiated a manhunt for the assailants.

Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego and the Lagos State NURTW Chairman, described Ajiboye as a loyal ally, dependable friend, and dedicated union leader. "The news of the sudden passing of Comrade Toba Ajiboye has left me deeply saddened and heartbroken," Sego stated. "He was more than an ally; he was a trusted friend and a true pillar of TeamSego and SegoNation."

As of the time of reporting, the state police command had not released an update on the killing, and speculation surrounding the circumstances of Ajiboye's death continues.
