Slovak universities to offer final internship as graduation option

Slovak university students will soon have an additional pathway to complete their academic programs, with the introduction of a final internship as an alternative to the traditional thesis defense.

This new option aims to provide students with practical, hands-on experience in their field of study. While the specifics are still being finalized, the core requirement involves undertaking an internship at a company relevant to the student's specialization.

However, completing the internship alone will not suffice for graduation. Students will still be required to defend their practical work, similar to how they would defend a written thesis. This ensures that the internship experience is rigorously assessed and that students can demonstrate their acquired knowledge and skills.

The move is expected to better prepare graduates for the job market by integrating academic learning with real-world application, bridging the gap between university education and industry demands.
