Snowbirds to make final flight at Grey Cup in Calgary

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will close their 55th anniversary season with a final performance above Calgary’s Grey Cup celebration on Nov. 15.

The aerobatic team will fly over McMahon Stadium during the 113th Grey Cup, the Canadian Football League said Thursday on social media. The event had previously been expected to mark the Snowbirds’ final flight in Sacramento, California, where they are scheduled to perform at the California Capital Airshow on Oct. 10 and 11.

The Snowbirds, officially known as 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, operate from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. They have flown CT-114 Tutor aircraft since 1971. The jets will retire after the 2026 season, with the team expected to transition to new planes in the early 2030s.

“As we close out the Snowbirds’ 55th anniversary, I want to thank all Canadians for celebrating our team over this past season,” said Major-General Denis O’Reilly, deputy commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

The team has previously appeared at the 101st, 106th and 109th Grey Cups. The 113th championship game is scheduled for Nov. 15 at McMahon Stadium in Calgary.
