Online platforms are being criticized for allowing content that denigrates Korean independence activists and distorts historical facts. Professor Seo Kyoung-duk of Sungshin Women's University pointed out the widespread nature of such posts on platforms like TikTok and Threads, especially as the 81st Liberation Day approaches.

Many netizens have reported that posts denigrating independence activists are overflowing on Threads, so I investigated. The level is so serious. Denigrating posts are overflowing.

Seo stated that many users have reported seeing numerous posts on Threads that insult independence activists. He described the content as including profanity, historically inaccurate claims, and even attempts to rank the achievements of these figures, calling it deeply offensive and a denial of historical facts.

Such false posts are nothing more than an act of denying historical facts.

Examples cited include referring to prominent figures like Kim Gu and Ahn Jung-geun as 'murderous criminals,' and describing Yu Gwan-sun as 'unknown trash.' Insults directed at Yun Bong-gil and Lee Bong-chang were also noted.

The posts are filled with profanity about independence activists, articles completely different from historical facts are spreading, and the achievements of independence activists are being ranked, which is truly eye-brow raising.

Professor Seo urged social media platforms to enhance their monitoring systems to prevent the proliferation of such harmful content. He pledged to continue his efforts to promote the noble spirits and achievements of Korean independence activists both domestically and internationally.
