Soldiers arrest suspected Borno terrorist logistics suppliers

Nigerian Army troops have apprehended several suspected suppliers of logistics to Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorist groups in Borno State. The arrests, announced Thursday by Lt Col Sani Uba, media information officer for Operation Hadin Kai, are part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the North-East.

These include the arrest of terrorists and their collaborators, disruption of logistics supply networks, recovery of arms and ammunition, and consolidation of overall security gains in the North-East.

These successes stem from sustained operational momentum, leading to significant breakthroughs against terrorist networks. Uba stated that intelligence-led operations across Borno and Yobe states resulted in the apprehension of multiple suspects linked to terrorist logistics. Among those arrested was Girema Aliko, 40, reportedly on a security watchlist, who was intercepted with 30 liters of fuel at Benisheikh Market. He confessed to supplying fuel and other logistics to terrorists.

In other operations, troops arrested Mohammed Bulama, 25, a suspected logistics supplier and informant in Maiduguri, who investigations linked to terrorist elements. Additionally, an absconded soldier, Private Umar Bema, was apprehended in Maiduguri for alleged criminal activities, including robbery, during his unauthorized absence. His rifle and magazines were recovered.

During preliminary interrogation, he confessed to supplying fuel and other logistics to terrorist elements.

The military also arrested a suspected kidnapper and syndicate member in Biu Local Government Area, who confessed to kidnapping, cattle rustling, and links to terrorist groups. Another suspected logistics supplier was apprehended along the Gubio axis while transporting large quantities of unspecified items.
