Soldiers kill two terrorists, rescue three kidnap victims in Benue

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE, have successfully neutralized two suspected terrorists and rescued three kidnapped victims during an offensive in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. The operation, carried out in collaboration with the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, commenced in the early hours of July 16 and concluded on July 17.

The military forces advanced through Takum in Taraba State to reach the Tse Togo and Utenge communities, located across River Yooyo at Orter Camp, where the terrorists were reportedly operating. During the operation, troops engaged the criminals in a significant firefight, resulting in the elimination of two of them.

The rescued victims have been identified as Mr. Nyityo Abraham, a teacher; Mr. Uzuegwu Chukwuemeka Decency, a spare parts dealer; and Mr. Terhember Tavarshima, a farmer, all from the Katsina-Ala LGA. The statement indicated that other captives managed to escape the camp amidst the exchange of gunfire.

The operation saw troops engage the criminals in a fierce gun battle, neutralising two of them. Three abducted victims namely; Mr Nyityo Abraham, a teacher; Mr Uzuegwu Chukwuemeka Decency, a spare parts dealer; and Mr Terhember Tavarshima, a farmer, all from Katsina-Ala LGA were rescued.

During the operation, the troops seized a cache of weapons and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle with an optic sight, one pistol, 19 AK-47 magazines, and various rounds of ammunition. They also recovered a Moniepoint Point-of-Sale device and several pairs of camouflage uniforms.

He reiterated the commitment to eradicating terrorists and other criminal elements from the Joint Operations Area and expressed gratitude for the ongoing support and cooperation from sister security agencies and local communities.
