Soldiers rescue 13 kidnap victims, foil terrorist operations in Zamfara

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully rescued 13 individuals who had been kidnapped, during separate operations conducted in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas of Zamfara State. The operations also disrupted planned terrorist activities, causing the suspects to abandon their captives and flee.

Guided by real-time surveillance, the troops pursued and engaged the terrorists with overwhelming firepower, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, the first operation occurred in Bagega, Anka LGA. Acting on credible intelligence about armed terrorists on motorcycles heading towards Tungan Kudaduku, the troops pursued and engaged them with overwhelming firepower. This forced the terrorists to abandon their mission. A subsequent search of the area uncovered a makeshift terrorist camp where five kidnapped civilians were found unharmed.

In a separate operation in Ungwan Rogo, Kaura Namoda LGA, troops responded to intelligence reports of terrorist activities. They engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, compelling them to retreat in disarray and abandon their captives. Eight kidnapped victims were rescued in this operation, and two vehicles were recovered.
