Soldiers rescue 33 kidnapped passengers in Zamfara

Troops operating under the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully rescued 33 passengers who were kidnapped by terrorists in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The operation followed an intelligence report received on Saturday regarding the abduction of commuters traveling through the Magazu area.

Acting promptly, the troops mobilized to the location and made contact with the terrorists, who were already moving the abducted passengers to an unknown destination.

According to Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for JTF North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, troops from Sector 2, in collaboration with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force in Tsafe, mobilized immediately after receiving the information late Saturday afternoon. They intercepted the terrorists who were moving the abducted passengers to an undisclosed location.

During an engagement with the terrorists, the troops used effective firepower, compelling the abductors to abandon their victims and flee into the surrounding bushes. All 33 abducted individuals were subsequently secured and rescued unharmed. Following the rescue, the troops initiated an exploitation of the area to track the fleeing terrorists.
