Soldiers rescue three kidnap victims in Katsina

Three kidnap victims were rescued after residents alerted security forces to suspected terrorists operating along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Katsina State. Troops from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, responded on September 3, 2026.

The troops mobilized with Nigeria Police personnel and engaged the suspected terrorists, according to Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the task force’s media information officer. He said the security forces overwhelmed the attackers with superior firepower, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bush and abandon the victims.

Acting on the distress call, troops in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police swiftly mobilised to the scene and made contact with the terrorists, overwhelming them with superior firepower.

The operation also led to the recovery of two vehicles allegedly used by the terrorists. The rescued victims and vehicles were handed over to the Divisional Police Officer in Dandume for further action.

Danja said troops would maintain aggressive patrols along the corridor to restrict the terrorists’ movement and prevent further attacks. He credited residents for their continued cooperation and urged them to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the nearest security post.
