Soldiers rescue woman as terrorists flee ransom exchange

Troops operating under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully rescued a kidnapped woman and thwarted a planned ransom exchange in the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The operation was initiated following credible intelligence regarding an impending ransom payment for the woman, who had been abducted from her farm the previous month.

The engagement forced the criminals to retreat in disarray, abandoning the hostage, who was subsequently secured by our troops.

According to Lt Col. Olaniyi Osoba, the acting spokesperson for the troops, soldiers swiftly mobilized to intercept the transaction. Upon sighting the advancing troops, the terrorists attempted to engage them. However, the superior firepower of the military forced the criminals to retreat in disarray, abandoning the hostage.

The rescued woman was found unharmed and has since been safely transported to reunite with her family in the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area. Following the successful rescue, troops conducted a thorough sweep of the terrorists' withdrawal route to ensure the area's complete security before returning to base.

In a separate operation, troops conducted routine clearance and dominance patrols across parts of Ngaski Local Government Area without incident. Lt Col. Osoba assured residents that Operation FANSAN YAMMA will maintain sustained pressure on terrorists and bandits operating in Kebbi State and other regions. He urged the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence to help prevent attacks and disrupt criminal activities.
