Solid minerals fund offers guidance to applicants for grants

Nigeria's Federal Government is stepping up efforts to attract investment and support early-stage projects in the mining sector through the Solid Minerals Development Fund's EMERGE initiative. The fund has announced two live online information sessions to guide prospective applicants.

These sessions will offer crucial details on funding opportunities, eligibility criteria, and the application process. The first session, scheduled for August 20, 2026, will focus on Exploration and Critical Minerals, while the second, on August 21, will cover Research and Development. Both are designed to help applicants better understand the initiative and how to access grants.

The EMERGE program is a key government strategy to overcome a major hurdle in Nigeria's mining industry: the difficulty in moving promising mineral projects beyond the exploration phase. Despite significant mineral deposits, many projects struggle to secure the necessary capital, technical expertise, and geological data for commercial production. EMERGE aims to bridge this gap by providing catalytic grants and technical support.
