Solo Polish Hiker Dies After Cardiac Arrest in South Korea's Seoraksan National Park

A 66-year-old Polish tourist traveling alone in South Korea has died after suffering a cardiac arrest while hiking in the scenic Seoraksan National Park. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon near the upper station of the Gwongeumseong Cable Car.

Park officials and police reported that the woman collapsed approximately 200 meters from the cable car station, exhibiting symptoms of cardiac arrest. Upon receiving the distress call, a specialized mountain rescue team from the National Park and emergency services from 119 were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Rescuers provided immediate first aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), before transporting the woman to a hospital in Sokcho. Despite the swift medical intervention, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The woman was reportedly traveling solo in South Korea and had chosen to visit Seoraksan National Park during her trip.

Authorities, including the police, fire department, and the Korea National Park Service, are currently conducting an investigation to determine the precise cause of her death and the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
