Some Respite for Citizens as Heavy Rain Lashes Parts of Lahore

Lahore experienced heavy rainfall across various areas on Saturday, with Nishtar Town recording the highest amount of precipitation. Data from the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) indicated significant rainfall in multiple locations, including Jail Road, the airport area, Gulberg, Lakshmi Chowk, and Upper Mall.

In response to the downpour, Wasa Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed visited several low-lying areas and monitored the rainwater drainage operations. He directed officials to expedite the drainage process and utilize all available resources to clear water from affected areas, ensuring traffic could move smoothly. Disposal stations were reported to be operating at full capacity.

The city's Deputy Commissioner, Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ijaz, also inspected areas like Mazang and Lakshmi Chowk. Officials were instructed to remain on high alert in vulnerable spots and address citizen complaints promptly.

Separately, the heavy rain led to a wall collapse in Wapda Town, injuring two people when it fell onto a rickshaw. One of the injured individuals required further treatment at Jinnah Hospital. The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts potential rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms in isolated parts of Azad Kashmir, northeast Punjab, and Potohar regions, with possibilities of heavy rain and hailstorms.
