Son gives only 1,000 yuan pocket money per week, 80-year-old mother 'appeal failed' and runs away from home

An 80-year-old woman in Taiwan left her home after a dispute with her son over her weekly allowance. The son had offered her NT$1,000 (approximately $31) per week, a sum she deemed insufficient for her needs, particularly for purchasing items like clothing.

Feeling her request for more money was unfairly rejected, the elderly woman decided to leave her residence in protest. She walked for about four hours under the intense heat, nearly suffering heatstroke, before police officers found her.

Officers from the Ciaotou and Jiawei police stations located the woman on Xindong 3rd Road in the Ciaotou New Town area. She was physically weakened by the prolonged exposure to the sun. The police provided her with water and escorted her back to the police station to rest.

Her son, who had reported her missing, rushed to the station upon learning she was found. He expressed his deep gratitude to the police for their assistance in ensuring his mother's safe return, bringing a temporary end to the family disagreement.
