Son Heung-min Returns to LA FC Training After World Cup Break

LA FC announced the return of star player Son Heung-min to team training on Tuesday, signaling his readiness to rejoin the squad after a period of rest following the FIFA World Cup. The club shared a video on social media showing a smiling Son participating in drills with his teammates, accompanied by the caption, "Son Heung-min is back."

Son is preparing for the resumption of the Major League Soccer (MLS) season, which kicks off this week after a break for the World Cup. His first match back is scheduled for June 18, an away game against rivals LA Galaxy. The 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America was a source of disappointment for both Son and the South Korean national team. Despite playing in all three group stage matches and starting two, Son failed to register a single attacking point. The team's performance was similarly underwhelming, finishing third in their group and failing to advance to the knockout stage.

Following the early exit from the World Cup, Son returned to South Korea to rest and recharge with his family. He has since traveled back to Los Angeles to prepare for the latter half of the MLS season. Throughout the current MLS season, Son has appeared in 13 matches, scoring no goals but leading the league with nine assists. He has also been selected by fan vote to participate in the MLS All-Star game on June 29, where he will play alongside other stars against Mexico's Liga MX All-Stars.
