Son Heung-min Scores Opener Just 5 Minutes In, Extends MLS Scoring Run to 3 Consecutive Games

South Korean superstar Son Heung-min continued his impressive scoring streak in Major League Soccer, netting the opening goal in just the fifth minute for LA FC against Sporting Kansas City. The goal came during an MLS home match at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.

Playing in a familiar attacking role, Son converted a right-footed shot during a counter-attack situation, giving LA FC an early lead. He was later substituted in the 85th minute as part of a strategic move to manage his stamina, with LA FC going on to secure a dominant 4-0 victory.

This latest goal extends Son's scoring run since his return to MLS. After remaining scoreless in three World Cup qualifying matches for South Korea, he has found the back of the net in every game for LA FC. Previously, he scored the opening goal in a 3-0 win against LA Galaxy on July 18 and contributed a goal and an assist in a 3-1 victory over Real Salt Lake on July 23.

Son's scoring prowess is not new to MLS; he previously recorded goals in four consecutive matches during his debut season last year. His current form has propelled LA FC to second place in the Western Conference standings with 33 points. Son is also scheduled to participate in the MLS All-Star Game on July 30.
