Song Young-gil tells Han Dong-hoon he would make more money taking Super Chats at Garosero Research Institute

South Korea’s Democratic Party has intensified its attack on independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon over his repeated release of materials related to allegations that Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won sought favors over approval of a new drug.

Democratic Party leader Kim Min-seok said on the party’s YouTube program that some people viewed Han as an immature attention seeker who was using any means to attract notice. Song Young-gil, who appeared with Kim, said Han was struggling to create a public presence while isolated as an independent lawmaker and former special investigations prosecutor.

Song accused Han of potentially violating the Personal Information Protection Act and the crime of publicizing suspected criminal facts by releasing recordings in installments. He added that Han would make more money by leaving the National Assembly and joining Kim Se-eui and Kim Yong-seok at the Garosero Research Institute to receive Super Chats.

He should stop being a lawmaker and go to the Garosero Research Institute with Kim Se-eui and Kim Yong-seok to receive Super Chats, which would be much more profitable.

Party floor leader Han Byung-do said Han had used materials with an undisclosed acquisition route and partially cut recordings to distort the facts under the pretext of verification. He demanded that Han explain to the public from whom and through what route he obtained the materials, and accept responsibility if he made false claims.

Kim Eui-kyeom, the ruling party’s legislative affairs committee coordinator, said on CBS radio that a document Han released from the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office was strictly internal, unavailable for outside viewing and not even submitted to court. Kim also alleged that Han was escalating his confrontation with the government to create the image of a victim of political repression as an investigation into the People Power Party members’ bulletin board neared its final stage.
