Sookmyung Women's University Selected for Two Seoul ANCHOR Projects, Securing 11.7 Billion Won

Sookmyung Women's University has secured a significant 11.7 billion won in funding after being selected for two key projects under Seoul's 'ANCHOR' (Area Networked Cultivation Hub for Higher Education) initiative. This dual success positions the university as a key player in both advanced life science research and AI talent development.

The university's 'Seoul ANCHOR 10 Challenge: Source Technology Development for Bio-Renewal' project is a major nine-year, 8 billion won research initiative. Led by Professor Jang Chang-young of the Sookmyung University College of Pharmacy, the project aims to extend healthy lifespans by 10 years, focusing on removing senescent cells. It involves collaboration with leading domestic hospitals and international research institutions to develop source technologies for anti-aging treatments based on CAR-T cell therapy.

The research team plans to establish a comprehensive research system covering target discovery, immune drug development, efficacy verification, and data platform construction. They will develop a 'Deep Bio-Digital Aging Twin Platform' utilizing blood data from 150,000 individuals to advance precision medicine-based anti-aging therapies. The project targets the acquisition of 22 patents, four technology transfers, 22 papers with an impact factor above 10, and the creation of 200 billion won in technological value.

In parallel, Sookmyung Women's University was also selected for the 'Youth Employment Center University+' project, receiving 3.7 billion won over four years. This program integrates Seoul's 'Youth Employment Center' (SeSAC) model with university education to cultivate practical talents. Under the 'Sookmyung SeSAC+' banner, the university will operate three tracks, AI Innovator, AI Marketing Automation, and AI K-Content, to train 550 AI specialists. The program is designed to offer academic credit recognition and micro-degree acquisition through a 'Plus Semester' system, providing a connected pathway from education to field practice and employment.
