Sooryavanshi, 15, Debuts in India's Loss to England

Teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made history on Thursday, becoming the youngest man to represent India in England at just 15 years and 99 days old. He broke Sachin Tendulkar's long-standing record for the youngest Indian player in England, set when Tendulkar debuted in a Test match at 16 years and 205 days in 1989.

Sooryavanshi's debut came in the second Twenty20 international at Emirates Old Trafford, where India posted a competitive 190-7. The young opener contributed a brief but exciting 14 runs off 10 balls, including two audacious sixes, before being stumped. His inclusion generated considerable excitement among the boisterous crowd.

Despite Sooryavanshi's promising start, England chased down the target with four wickets to spare, thanks to a blistering unbeaten 76 from Jacob Bethell. Bethell's aggressive innings, which included three sixes in one over, guided England to a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. England's chase was also aided by contributions from captain Harry Brook (39 off 15 balls) and Tom Banton (39 off 32 balls).

While Sooryavanshi was the main attraction due to his age and potential, he was not the star performer on the day. India's bowlers, particularly Arshdeep Singh who took 3-40, fought hard, but England's strong batting lineup ultimately proved too much. The series continues with the third T20 at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.
