South Australian couple missing in Tasmania

A search is underway in Tasmania's north-west for an elderly couple from South Australia who have been reported missing.

Clementina, 81, and her 79-year-old partner Peter were last seen on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 PM in Milabena, a locality west of Burnie. The couple was visiting family in Tasmania and had set out for an afternoon of sightseeing. Their intended destination remains unknown.

Authorities believe the couple may be traveling in their silver 2008 Honda CR-V, with South Australian registration S744ACB. Police suspect they might have been heading towards the Penguin, Gawler, and Gunns Plains areas.

The couple was reported missing on Tuesday evening after failing to return home as scheduled and being unreachable by their family. Search and rescue teams have been deployed, but efforts are being hampered by unfavorable weather conditions, which have prevented the police helicopter from assisting in the search so far. Clementina is described as approximately 149 cm tall, of solid build, and was last seen wearing a green sherpa-lined hoodie, blue or black pants, and black lace-up shoes. Peter is described as being of solid build, with grey hair, wearing glasses, and approximately 170 cm tall. He was last seen wearing a navy blue hoodie, navy blue track pants, and New Balance sneakers.

Tasmania Police urge anyone with information regarding the couple's whereabouts or who may have seen their vehicle to contact them immediately on 131 444.
