South Korea Finalizes 12-Player Roster for 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup

The South Korean national women's basketball team has finalized its 12-player roster for the 2026 FIBA World Cup, the Korea Basketball Association announced on August 25th. The selection comes after an intensive training period, including recent away games against Japan to hone their skills and team cohesion.

Notably absent from the final lineup is Park Ji-su, a prominent player currently undergoing rehabilitation after surgery. However, the team will be bolstered by the inclusion of Park Ji-hyun, who plays in the U.S. Women's Professional Basketball Association (WNBA) for the Los Angeles Sparks. Park Ji-hyun, who missed the recent evaluation matches in Japan due to her club commitments, is set to join the squad in Germany on September 1st to prepare for the tournament.

The team has been training at the Jincheon National Training Center since mid-July, focusing on improving areas identified during their matches against Japan. After further refinement in Germany, they will enter the main tournament. South Korea is set to play its first game against Nigeria on September 4th. They will then face France on September 6th and Hungary on September 7th in the group stage.
