South Korea's national football team has suffered a significant fall in the FIFA rankings, plummeting seven spots to 32nd place. This drop is attributed to their disappointing performance in the 2026 World Cup, where they were eliminated in the group stage with a record of one win and two losses.

The team's current standing marks their lowest since December 2021, when they were ranked 33rd. The expectation was for South Korea to advance to the knockout stage in the expanded 48-team tournament, making their early exit particularly stinging.

In the latest FIFA rankings released on July 20, Spain ascended to the top spot after their World Cup victory, displacing Argentina, who fell to second. Other traditional powerhouses like France and England maintained their third and fourth positions, respectively. Brazil and Morocco each climbed one spot to fifth and sixth.

Among Asian nations, Japan leads the pack at 17th, followed by Iran (22nd) and Australia (28th). Notably, Norway saw the most significant jump, climbing 12 places to 19th after reaching the World Cup quarterfinals.
