South Korea's junior men's handball team claims fourth Asian Championship title

The South Korean men's junior handball team has claimed their fourth Asian Junior Championship title, triumphing over the United Arab Emirates with a narrow 25-24 victory in the final held in Quzhou, China. This win marks a significant achievement for the team, led by coach Park Hyun-jong.

The championship victory not only adds another trophy to South Korea's handball history but also secures their qualification for the 26th IHF World Men's Junior Championship, scheduled to take place in North Macedonia in June next year. This marks the team's return to the world stage after previous successes in 1988, 1992, and 2018.

In a dramatic final, South Korea overcame a six-point deficit at halftime, trailing 7-13. They mounted a fierce comeback in the second half, taking a 20-19 lead with less than 10 minutes remaining. The decisive moment came in the final moments of the game when Ju Yong-chan scored the winning goal, sealing the 25-24 victory.

Choi Young-woo was a standout performer throughout the tournament, finishing as the top scorer with a remarkable 64 goals. He, along with Ju Yong-chan, who also scored 8 goals in the final, played crucial roles in South Korea's championship run.
