South Korea to deploy AI systems across all ministries by year-end

South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has committed to a significant digital transformation in public administration, announcing that AI-powered administrative systems will be deployed in all government ministries by the end of the year. This initiative aims to enhance efficiency and modernize government operations.

Currently, these AI systems are undergoing pilot testing in four ministries. The plan involves expanding this program nationwide in partnership with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Han made the announcement during his inauguration ceremony, emphasizing that the government's primary focus is on improving the lives of its citizens. Beyond the AI rollout, the Prime Minister outlined several key priorities for his administration. He also pledged to actively pursue data-driven governance.

In his first emergency economic meeting, Han stressed the urgency of managing inflation and stabilizing prices for essential goods. He called for real-time monitoring of price trends and swift, decisive implementation of supply-side measures. Additionally, he highlighted the need for proactive government responses to potential global economic shifts, such as rising interest rates in major economies and ensuring stability in the Middle East. Strengthening cooperation with Middle Eastern countries, particularly in exports and post-conflict reconstruction efforts, was also mentioned as a key objective.
