South Korea women's volleyball team starts East Asian Championship with 3-0 win over Mongolia

The South Korean women's volleyball team began the 2026 East Asian Women's Volleyball Championship with a commanding 3-0 victory against Mongolia. Playing in Hong Kong, the Korean team, led by coach Cha Sang-hyun, dominated the match with set scores of 25-10, 25-10, and 25-15.

Ranked 29th globally, South Korea faced 116th-ranked Mongolia without significant challenge. The team secured an easy win, closing out the sets with substantial point differences. Yuk Seo-young was the top scorer for Korea, contributing 17 points, while Na Hyun-soo added 13 points, together accounting for 30 points.

South Korea is in Group A of the tournament, alongside Hong Kong and Mongolia. Following the East Asian Championship, which concludes on July 17, the team will participate in the Asian Championship in Tianjin, China, from July 21 to 30.

After a brief rest period in South Korea, the team will regroup for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi Nagoya. This strong start against Mongolia sets a positive tone for their upcoming competitions.
