South Korean vice minister says FIFA has no reason to challenge football innovation committee

South Korea’s K-Football Innovation Committee is “only a non-coercive advisory and support body,” Culture Ministry Vice Minister Kim Dae-hyun said in an official explanation of FIFA’s planned on-site inspection.

FIFA decided to visit the Korea Football Association directly to examine the country’s football situation, including concerns about interference with the sport’s autonomy. The inspection is considered unusual.

Kim said the committee’s role did not give FIFA grounds to raise an issue. FIFA’s review is expected to include the committee and possible involvement by political and government actors.
