South Korean Women's Saber Team Wins Asian Championship Gold; Men's Epee Takes Bronze

The South Korean women's saber fencing team has reclaimed the Asian Championship title, triumphing over Japan in a decisive 45-35 victory in New Delhi. The team, comprising Choi Se-bin, Jeon Ha-young, Kim Jeong-mi, and Seo Ji-yeon, secured the gold medal on Wednesday, marking their return to the top of the podium after a three-year hiatus.

This win avenges their narrow defeat to Japan in last year's final, where they lost by a single point (44-45) to take silver. The team had previously achieved a two-year winning streak in 2022 and 2023, but secured bronze in 2024 and silver in 2025, making this year's gold a significant achievement.

Choi Se-bin, who also won an individual silver medal at this championship, contributed significantly by earning two medals. Meanwhile, the men's epee team, featuring Park Sang-young, Kwon Oh-min, Son Min-seong, and Nam Yeon-ho, secured a bronze medal after falling to Kazakhstan 33-45 in the semifinals.

Overall, the South Korean team has garnered three gold, one silver, and six bronze medals so far in the championships. They aim to add to their tally on the final day of the competition in the men's foil and women's epee team events.
