Spain and France battle raging wildfires, face high risk of more

Meanwhile, on the French Atlantic coast near Bordeaux, thousands of tourists were preemptively evacuated due to a wildfire that erupted in Saumos. The fire has already spread across 800 hectares, necessitating a large-scale response involving 500 firefighters, four water-bombing planes, and 150 vehicles. Authorities have declared the highest wildfire warning level, red, for the Gironde department, urging strict adherence to safety instructions. The evacuations included residents from two districts in Le Porge and a campsite housing approximately 3,500 vacationers. Nearby beaches and roads were also cleared. This situation follows a tragic incident on Tuesday where two firefighters died near Bordeaux's airport after being trapped by flames.
