Spain captured the FIFA World Cup title on Sunday, defeating defending champions Argentina 1-0 in a tense final decided in extra time. Substitute Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute, securing Spain's second World Cup triumph.

The Spanish team displayed clear dominance in terms of ball possession and the number of shots taken. Despite their control, they struggled to find the back of the net during the initial 90 minutes. The match remained deadlocked, pushing the contest into an additional 30 minutes of play.

In the opening moments of the second extra-time period, Torres seized an opportunity. He pounced on a bouncing ball inside the penalty area and fired a shot with his left foot, which found the back of the net just below the crossbar. This goal proved to be the difference-maker.

Argentina's challenge was compounded when Enzo Fernandez was sent off in second-half stoppage time after receiving his second yellow card. This resulted in Argentina finishing the match with only 10 players. Earlier, a free kick from Lamine Yamal was brilliantly saved by Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who made a total of 10 saves, a World Cup final record.
