"We are on a cloud. I can only thank God for everything he has given me. This group is sensational. We are world champions! It's incredible to say it," Rodri told Spanish public television (TVE). He acknowledged the strength of their opponent, noting, "We played the final against a team that has the best player in history," referring to Lionel Messi.

Rodri highlighted Spain's consistent attacking approach as key to their success. "Our secret as a national team is that we will always go after you. And God at the end rewards you for having been brave," he added.

For Rodri, this World Cup triumph is a deeply personal redemption. He was awarded the Ballon d'Or in 2024 and won the European Championship with Spain that same year, but a severe injury threatened to derail his career. Being named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP) in this World Cup represents a significant comeback.

"People can see with my case that a player who touches the sky can fall to the lowest, and from there get up again with hard work. I am an example of overcoming. I have felt throughout this journey the support and affection of people in Spain who do not know me, but who have been supporting me," he expressed with pride.
