Spanish mountain village braces for astrotourists lured by total solar eclipse

The remote mountain village of Somosierra is bracing for an unusual surge of visitors as it prepares to host a total solar eclipse on August 12. This rare celestial alignment, the first of its kind in northern and eastern Spain in over 120 years, is expected to draw significant attention to the normally tranquil area.

Somosierra, characterized by its windswept peaks, grazing livestock, and an abandoned aerodrome once used by glider pilots, typically experiences little activity.
